The Hall-Tubadji Session 2026: Advancing Evolutionary-Institutional Thought
The annual Advancing Evolutionary-Institutional Thought session, convened by Professor John Battaile Hall and Annie Tubadji, continued a valued tradition within EAEPE of fostering bold and forward-looking inquiry at the intersection of institutional, evolutionary, and cultural economics. This year's session featured contributions from Alice Nicole Sindzingre (Economist, CNRS and Paris School of Economics), Fabrice Tricou (Economist, Université Côte d'Azur), Annie Tubadji (Economics Department, Swansea University, Founder of the Culture Based Development Paradigm), and 1st CBD Award Holder Professor John Battaile Hall (Professor Emeritus of Economics, Portland State University). Together, they explored themes ranging from the evolution of economic thought and aesthetics in economics to institutional change and the continued relevance of Veblenian analysis in understanding contemporary socio-economic transformations. In the spirit of Thorstein Veblen, whose intellectual courage continues to inspire institutional and evolutionary scholarship, the session remains dedicated not merely to preserving a tradition, but to extending it. Following in Veblen's footsteps, we continue to paint boldly with the brush, question established boundaries, and venture into new and unexplored intellectual territories. The session serves as a forum where established ideas are re-examined, emerging perspectives are welcomed, and novel paths are forged toward a deeper understanding of the cultural, institutional, and evolutionary forces shaping contemporary societies.
